Importance of Sex Education for Understanding Sexual Orientation ,IGNOU's Progressive Step Forward to Transgenders
Sex education teaches us, sexuality or the orientation of someone’s sexual behavior is
something which is completely a person’s own choice. In India if the transgender
or a homosexual persons are not treated well, there are various bodies are
there to harass hackle them, to mention the social bodies like schools and
colleges and government with Article 377.but if this is the only picture of in
a country of 1.2 billion people then what these 3 million completely natural
human beings(only with different sexual orientation) look up to with hope .
There
are people with positive mentality and considering attitude towards these peoples,
but they don’t need a special attention they need a fair share of rights like
men women. this consideration suddenly vanishes when we take a look towards our
own locality specially our own home ,when a boy or girl born we consider his
sexual orientation by taking a look at the sexual organ he or she is having and try to imagine him or her as a
boy or girl. most of the kids also consider the same and try to suppress their feelings
if they are having any other sexual orientation considering it unnatural or
sinful in Indian society .
Here comes the Importance of sex education which not
only let young people know about the sexual changes and the safety but also
about the different orientation and they are completely natural .but as this
country is having a desire to politicize and take benefits of every issue by commenting
on them , Article 377 is standing still in its place.
Teaching sex in school will let these young adults be more conscious about their own sexuality and orientation which is important for them to grow them as a human being in life.
The young
one will convince others and the society that any kind of sexual orientation is
completely natural only if he has got the confidence in themselves which can be
injected in their mind by progressive sex education teachers .recently IGNOU(open
schooling university in India) waived fees for transgender who enrolled in their program which is a applaudable
move. But when they revealed how their sexual orientation was considered in
their families it left us with a bitter test in mouth.

when she was fifteen.

For Bebo , she is so scared of parents till date (who
want her to be in army) unable to express the truth of her sexual orientation
and living a dual life
.

In case of Neetu it’s a different story altogether ”I was in a co-ed private school till Class V
but my father thought my ‘girly’ mannerisms were because I was hanging out with
girls, so they shifted me to a government school. It was hell.”
These people have suffered a lot in their life and reached to this state but if proper sex education has been included in curriculum it would help the other students to understand them better and not to tease or alienate them.
Proper sex education in India is
required for the young adults trying to understand between the difference of
right and wrong, natural and unnatural and mostly safe and unsafe.
